There are two Duddon Valley fell races, the short and the long. They both start and finish near the Newfield Inn in Seathwaite: the long race starts at 11:00 in a field just the other side of the Duddon – about 10 minutes away – and the short race starts at about 11:20 in the field behind the pub, where both races will eventually finish.

The long Duddon is a classic race covering 18 miles around the head of the Duddon Valley with 6000ft of climb over Harter, Hardknott, Little Stand, Swirl How, Dow Crag, White Pike and Caw. The short Duddon is an 11 mile race with 3000 feet of climb up Dow and Caw. Both are category A fell races so navigational ability, proper kit and some idea of what you’re doing are all essential.

There’s an entry form for the long race you can download from the requirements and entry page. Both races can be entered in Seathwaite Parish Room from 9.15 on the day. We also have a description of the routes and checkpoints that is no substitute for a decent recce, results and photos from previous years, some frequently-asked questions and a word from our sponsors.
